Who (doesn't) need APS?

APS systems — the acronym for Advanced Planning and Scheduling — have proven results across several industrial segments.The gains generally show up as better on-time delivery performance, inventory reduction and productivity improvement.Evaluate whether these characteristics align with your company's situation. The more positive answers, the better the tool fits your business — even though it may not apply to every case.

  1. Delivery dates fluctuate significantly depending on production status and the order book;
  2. Demand is hard to forecast, production performance is variable, and the need for scheduling and rescheduling is constant;
  3. Production scheduling requires fine synchronization with raw material availability;
  4. Production suffers with urgent orders, cancellations and demand changes;
  5. Order sequencing has an impact on setup losses and productivity;
  6. Production capacity is constrained by equipment, labor and special tooling;
  7. The production flow is complex and the high product variety makes control via visual management alone difficult.
